Cool three-floored venue, tucked down a side-street off Jl. Cokroaminoto in Menteng. Totally unpretentious and non-commercial – this club's got some real soul oozing from its walls. One of Jakarta 's very best live music venues with a mixture of blues, jazz, reggae and classic 1970's rock.

HARD ROCK CAFÉ

Popular music and food venue. The main dining area is always teeming with trendy well-to-do Indonesians of every age while the side-bar usually overflowing on early evenings with westerners and local gals both looking for some extra company. The popular “I Do Like Mondays” sessions have been put on hold till April.
JAMZ
Aston Hotel, Jl. Garnisun Dalam 8, Karet Semanggi
A local live music heaven just off Jl. Sudirman, adjacent to the Aston towers. Not quite as packed as it used to be, but it still offers three rooms with varied musical genres. Attracts mainly Indonesian crowd.
JAYA PUB
Jaya Bldg, Jl. Thamrin Kav. 2, Central Jakarta
The former top Jakarta cabaret throughout the 80's and early 90's is still going strong. The funky old interior still holds loads of charm for a regular crew of older devotees who love nothing more than another stroll down that Jaya Pub memory lane. Nightly live music with great steaks and assorted pub food too.
NEWS CAFÉ
Jl. Kemang Raya 10, Kemang
Restaurant cabaret that's cut back the live entertainment to weekends only now. There's a sister News Café in Kuningan, but its pretty dead these days. Mostly local crowd only.
OSCARS
Jl. Falatehan No. 25, Block M
An institution on Block M, this two-floor pub at the far end of Falatehan has live music from Monday to Saturday from 9pm to 2am with different local bands each night. Upstairs has a quiet restaurant area with pool table. Adequate pub menu with a French/Asian flair. Themed after the Academy Awards, there's lots of Hollywood movie memorabilia hanging around and some of the friendliest staff on the blok.
PLANET HOLLYWOOD
Jl. Gatot Subroto Kav. 16, Central Jakarta
Very popular family restaurant full of movie memorabilia that has some of the most consistent and quality continental food in town. Live music entertainment from 9:30pm until 1am in the main dining room. Upstairs is the Century 21 multi-screen cinema, so you can order you movie ticket while having a drink or feed downstairs.
SALSA

Latin music restaurant/dance club that offers Latin dance lessons from Cuban instructors in the daytime to aspiring Shakira and Christine Aguilera wannabes. Can get really packed on weekend, a great early evening venue, especially if you know your Meringue from a Mambo.

Park Lane Hotel , Jl. Casablanca Kav.18, Kuningan
Hotel basement restaurant with excellent steaks that consistently imports great Latin and salsa bands from Mexico and South America for extended gigs. Check out the retro James Bond thigh-high boots on the waitresses.

28th Floor, Wisma Nusantara, Jl. Thamrin 59, Central Jakarta
Cozy sky-top restaurant and lounge with very slick local jazz acts. Quite a sophisticated crew of diplomats, Japanese, westerners and jazz loving Indonesians. Can get cooking on weekends. Located in the building just before the Nikko Hotel.
